At the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the governor enacted an eviction moratorium to protect residents who were unable to pay rent, which has since expired. Last week, an Eviction Diversion Plan was launched to help cushion the impending eviction crisis, while leaving some of the deeper housing issues exacerbated by the pandemic far from resolved.
On Tuesday, July 28th at 7:00pm, we are zooming in on the realities of Detroit housing and evictions in order to better understand this issue and how to be better allies in this arena.
Join The Well, the Coalition for Black and Jewish Unity, and the United Community Housing Coalition as we investigate this timely and critical issue, through a lens of Jewish learning.
We’re grateful to partner feature Jacob Smith (Coalition for Black and Jewish Unity), Ted Phillips (United Community Housing Coalition), and Rabbi Jeff Stombaugh (The Well), who will help us engage in big-picture questions, and break them down in small group discussions.
