What: Metro Detroit's Community-Wide Tu B'Shvat Seder

Join with Hazon Detroit, the JCC of Metro Detroit, and at least 16 synagogues from across the denominational spectrum for Judaism's most arboreal holiday, as we celebrate the trees, learn about the climate, and gather together to embody and envision a healthier and more sustainable world for all. Using the mystical Tu B'Shvat seder structure as our guide, the theme of the evening will focus on trees, climate, and the role we can play in healing our planet. The event will feature speakers and experts on these topics, to be woven together with Jewish wisdom and perspectives. There will be a light, kosher, holiday-themed dinner, in addition to the ritual foods and wine that are traditionally enjoyed at the seder.

There will also be an opportunity to raise funds for The Social Forestry Project, a local organization dedicated to planting trees in Southeast Michigan for a greener, more sustainable future. Clergy from various community partners will offer intentions and blessings throughout the evening. Adults and teens (with adult supervision) from across the community are welcome and encouraged to be there.

All food and wine will be vegetarian and kosher. There will be dairy-free and gluten-free options available. Handleman Hall is ADA accessible.
